Who We Are…
Starlight Farms Maui is an Animal Assisted Activity (AAA) farm. AAA is described as the use of animals in recreational and visitation programs to help people with special needs. We are not an “alternative” but a valued healing contributor for Individuals with mental, emotional, and/or developmental challenges.
The Farm offers “hands on” farm animal opportunities for Maui’s special needs community. Therapists/caregivers engage their partners to interact with farm animals, be outside, run in a pasture, play in a barn, get out of the house, school, or clinic setting. Breathe clean air, on a wide open 25 acre upcountry pasture, while gazing up at Haleakala.
Pet a pig, laugh at the goats, lead a mini donkey over poles, snuggle with a rabbit, guinea pig, chick or……
The Story Behind The Name “Starlight Farms”
Starlight was the horse Whitney was raised on in Maunawili, Oahu way too many years ago! Together, they won every high point ribbon available in English and Western 4H riding. Many years later, she became her own children’s horse. Starlight was 38 yrs old when she passed over Rainbow Bridge. She will be with us in spirit forever!
